EXETER — Even with temperatures pushing 90 degrees, the approximately 7,500 people visiting the 20th annual American Independence Festival Saturday made the event a true success.
Julie Tiebout, the American Independence Museum's marketing and development director, said "we had a better crowd this year than we have in years past, and I thought those were wonderful."

To date we have collected about 75 phones that were shipped to Verizon Wireless and then distributed to Police Departments and safe havens to be given to the victims of domestic violence.

The East Kingston Police in cooperation with Exeter Health Resources will be putting on a summer safety seminar on July 14, 2010 at 7:00pm to be held at the East Kingston Police Department.
The seminar will include common risks such as, sun exposure and rising temperatures as well as the correct first aid response to heat stress, heat rash, heat cramps and heat exhaustion. We will also cover skin cancer awareness and insect-borne illness.

This year there were 15 middle schools from across New England represented in band and choral groups competing at three venues. More than 200 students represented CMS in this event .

EAST KINGSTON — The library's Summer Reading Program, "MAKE A SPLASH...;READ!" is in full swing.
Sign up at the library at 47 Maplevale Road or call (603) 642-8333. Library staff ask kids to keep track of books read with paper goldfish in a bowl. The library will give out small prizes with one "grand prize."
